RSVP & Nexus – the winners

It is not uncommon for one agency to have a good showing on Awards night but never before has one agency with one campaign for one client achieved so much in the 23-year history of the Marketing Association’s RSVP and Nexus Awards, sponsored by New Zealand Post who have been supporters of the Awards since their inception.

DraftFCB with their client, Ministry of Health, took out both the RSVP Grand Prix and the Nexus Supreme Awards for 2010, a feat never achieved by one entrant before – as well as three RSVP Golds, two Nexus Golds and three of the eight RSVP Craft categories with their entry, The Journal

The Journal saw a major step change in the social marketing space by mentoring people with depression in an entirely online environment, creating an end-to-end pathway for people to find a way through depression with personalised support and access to medical expertise when required.

“Strategic vision, innovation, customer engagement and retention – every element a winner in its own right. What an outstanding achievement!” says Sue McCarty, Chief Executive at the Marketing Association of The Journaltaking home 10 top awards – to add to the collection of many more won throughout the history of the RSVP and Nexus Awards.

Although the darling of the evening, DraftFCB, weren’t the only winners making it possible for MC for the night, Marcus Lush to keep New Zealand’s marketing industry guessing as to who would be called on stage at the lavish awards night at The Langham, Auckland. Affinity ID, justONE, bcg2, Republik and Colenso BBDO helped keep things interesting with Gold-winning performances while the hard work also paid off for a number of first-time entrants and companies submitting their own work, including Gladeye with their client House of Travel (two  Silvers), The New Zealand Herald (two Bronzes), MediaWorks Radio (one Bronze) and ChildFund New Zealand (RSVP Craft Runner-up).

Now in its 24th year the future of the awards looks bright with the Nexus Awards attracting a far wider range of entrants this year with traditional winners picking up awards in new categories.
