A large number of dodgy public entries to the radio industry People’s Choice Awards has led to The Radio Bureau deleting duplicate votes from individuals using multiple email addresses.
“There are so many duplicates for the one particular entry, we might almost suspect it was a deliberate ploy,” is how TRB comms manager Fleur Herscott delicately put it.
Many ‘public’ entries (which carry a cash prize of $1000) come from advertising, radio and media companies across NZ.
Each year, the radio ads that reach the Grande ORCAs (Outstanding Radio Creativity Awards) are judged by two groups of people – the ‘public’ and the industry judges who decide which creative team gets the Grande ORCA prize of a trip for two to the Cannes Lions in June.
The winners of both sections will be unveiled on Thursday 29 March at the 2012 Grande ORCAs – entry to this function is by rsvp only (to info@trb.co.nz). You can hear all the candidate radio spots at www.trb.co.nz.
