Online travel specialist Expedia is the latest advertiser to embrace 3D cinema, with its Las Vegas transtasman campaign breaking in cinema this week in both 2D and 3D.
“Cinema delivers an audience with discretionary spending power who are particularly active in the travel market, making it a great fit with Expedia’s Vegas-themed TVC,” said Val Morgan’s James Hart.
Meredith Graham from Carat said: “The phenomenal success of The Avengers gave us a great platform to launch the Expedia campaign and take it into 3D.”
“Having seen the ad before The Avengers I have to say, it’s very good,” wrote one Aussie ad blogger. “A little bit 3D gimmicky, but overall I certainly liked it, and actually remembered it! (Rare for me as I’m usually concentrating on not spilling ice cream in the dark). Also, while we’re here, The Avengers is fantastic, even if you usually hate that genre.”
The TVCs and online films will be supported by print and outdoor.
