Beauty in a bank ad

The mixed use of a paper world and a gorgeous 3D bird make a startling spectacle in this unusual 45sec TVC by Cirkus NZ for its Vietnamese client, GiaDinh Bank. The big bird symbolises the birth of the large, new bank.

Each is a slice-of-life story. I’m Big Day’s focus is an imaginative little boy’s birthday party, Next Day (our favourite) is a saucy film about a cute young couple who enjoy a one-night stand before an awkward awakening leads to something special.

On the wagon

Barnes, Catmur & Friends showcased the fleet-footed Legacy with its Great Wagons of New Zealand spot. The TVC highlights the Legacy’s suitability for NZ’s natural habitat through an animated taxonomy book. (Look it up, we had to.)

Portfolio hires digital specialist

Portfolio Recruitment has appointed Marc van der Putten to the new role of digital recruitment specialist. Initially a graphic designer, van der Putten joined the online world in its infancy – in 1996 as lead designer with Telecom Internet Services Group (now Xtra). He’s also spent seven years in the travel sector as an e-content manager, and has been an online consultant for the past three years.
